Two-Day Workshops

Most materials provided

Come to Wachapreague and experience the pleasure and possibilities of palette-knife painting. Over the course of two days, with me as your guide, you will take solid steps in your journey of mastery and self-expression through painting.
Here's a bit of what to expect:
On the first day, after we get to know each other a little, I'll show you the basics:
- How to hold the knife
- How to pick up the paint
- How to put paint on your surface
Then I'll show you the strokes I use, and we'll practice until you feel comfortable.
In the afternoon, working from a photograph, we will use the strokes we practiced in the morning to make a painting.
At the end of the day, we'll take the measure of where we are, discuss strengths and weaknesses of all the paintings and contemplate how to continue them.
On the second day, we will review what we learned, talk about how to approach a painting, how to understand what you're seeing and translate that into a painting - and make (or at least start) a second painting.
Cost $325
Most materials are provided, including knives, paint and canvases. You will bring your own lunch, drinks and snacks.

There are numerous lodgings available on the Shore and in Wachapreague. If a number of you want to stay in town, I might be able to arrange a good price at an Air B&B-type home owned by a friend.
